On September 20, the swimming events of the 20th Asian Games began at the Aquatics Centre in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. On the first day of competition, Shenzhen University students Wu Qingfeng (Class of 2023, Sports Training; final), Cheng Yujie (Class of 2023, Sports Training; final), Liu Yaxin (Class of 2024, Master of Education; preliminary round), and Li Jiaping (Class of 2022, Sports Training; preliminary round) competed in the preliminary and final rounds of the women's 4×100-meter freestyle relay, respectively, and won the first relay gold medal in the swimming competition at this Asian Games. Jiang Chenglin finished fifth in the men's 100-meter backstroke.

At this Asian Games, nine current Shenzhen University students are competing in the swimming events: Wu Qingfeng (female), Peng Xuwei (female), Li Jiaping (female), Liu Yaxin (female), Cheng Yujie (female), Dong Zhihao, Wang Haoyu, Jiang Chenglin, and Chen Hao. The competition will continue through September 25. We look forward to even stronger performances from them as they bring honor to the country.
